A local Leicester customer visited Plumbland while building a koi carp fish pond. The pond filtration system used a 10,000 litres-per-hour pump, and they brought in a drawing of the proposed fish pond pipework because they wanted advice before buying the PVC pipe and fittings.

During the discussion, we suggested replacing several 90 degree elbows with 45 degree elbows wherever practical. Using two gentler bends can help minimise sharp changes in direction, helping reduce unnecessary flow restriction and promoting smoother water flow through fish pond filtration pipework.
Every installation is different, and 45 degree bends are not automatically the right answer in every position. In this layout, they were a practical option in several places where the available space allowed.
